The Recycling Center is jointly owned and operated by the Village of South Wayne and the Town of Wayne. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Recycling Information The Village of South Wayne does not pick up recyclables. They must be brought to the South Wayne Recycling Center located behind the South Wayne Mart. The Recycling Center is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed on Holidays. Clear Village/Township bags may be purchased at the recycling center for refuse not recyclable. Do Not place Recyclable items in the clear bags. Do not place items outside of the Recycling Center when they are closed. This is subject to a municipal fine. All items are accepted at No Charge unless specified. Village residents may rent a dumpster for $35.00 for one week/one dump, payable before delivery of dumpster. Recyclables are not to be put in the dumpsters. If recyclables are found in the Village/Township bags or in a dumpster they are subject to the guidelines set forth in the South Wayne Recycling Compliance Assurance Plan. To schedule a dumpster, contact Recycling Center Operator or James Dahl or Roger Trame at SWWWTP 439-5344 or clerk’s office at 439-1011. Any other garbage bags other than the Village/Township Garbage bags may be brought to the Recycling Center. You will be charged a $0.75 per small bag or $1.25 for a large bag. Bags with recyclables in them may be rejected. Recycling Center Attendant has the right to make judgment calls on all items of question brought to the Recycling Center and on cost of bags if accepted. Please recycle the following: Glass: Clear glass, brown glass and green glass. All jars and bottles must be rinsed and caps and lids removed. We do not recycle window panes, dinnerware, cookware, nick knacks or figurines, candle jars, wine glasses, etc. These items should be put in the Village/Township Clear Garbage bags. Plastic: Please look for a number 1 or 2 on the plastic items inside a triangle. Such as milk jugs, laundry detergent, shampoo, juice, ketchup, water bottles, pop bottles, vegetable oil, etc. All caps and lids must be removed. We do not accept motor oil jugs, toilet bowl cleaner, drain cleaner, anti-freeze, medicine bottles or wide mouth containers such as: cottage cheese, deli containers, also any containers with the numbers 3, 5, or 7 on them. These items should be put in the Village/Township Clear Garbage bags. Newspapers or Magazines: Put in a bundle or in a brown paper or grocery bag. Corrugated Cardboard: Box or tie together with a string. Must be flattened. We do not accept cereal boxes, cracker boxes, pop or beer cases or poster board. These items should be put in the Village/Township Clear Garbage bags. Shredded Paper: Place in a clear garbage bag. Remove staples& envelopes w/plastic windows before shredding. Tin Cans: Remove labels and rinse out. Aerosol Cans: Must have pressure released. Punch a hole in them. Paint Cans: Must be clean and dry. Aluminum Cans/Tin Foil/Aluminum Foil: All items are accepted. We do not pay for aluminum cans. Scrap Iron: Aluminum, Copper and Brass. We will take these items, but we do not pay you for them. Stoves, Washers/Dryers, Water Heaters: These items are accepted at no charge. Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers are accepted with a $25.00 fee due to the items containing Freon unless you have a certified slip that states that the Freon was removed then the charge is $15.00. Tires: Car Tires are $4.00 each; Truck Tires are $5.00 each; Semi and Tractor Tires are $8.00 each. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ SOUTH WAYNE RECYCLING COMPLIANCE ASSURANCE PLAN Purpose: This policy will establish standard guidelines that will lead to compliance with the Village of South Wayne and the Town of Wayne’s Recycling ordinances. South Wayne Village Employees, Wayne Township Employees and the Recycling Center Operator are responsible for enforcing the South Wayne Recycling Center’s recycling ordinance. The Village of South Wayne and the Town of Wayne’s staff and personnel shall follow the guidelines identified in this Compliance Assurance Plan in response to issues associated with recycling and solid waste. This plan is intended to meet the requirements of s. NR 544.04 (9g), Wis. Adm. Code as well as the recycling ordinance. RECYCLING PROGRAM Problem: Trash found mixed with recyclables upon delivery to South Wayne Recycling Center. Problem: Recyclables found in trash upon delivery to South Wayne Recycling Center or upon curbside pick up by Village employees or upon pickup of dumpsters. Solutions: - 1st Offense: Collect recyclables and trash and provide educational materials
- 2nd Offense: Collect recyclables and trash and send Standard Written Warning by Township or Village Clerk.
- 3rd Offense: Recyclables and trash are not collected and Standard Written Warning sent by Township or Village Clerk.
- 4th Offense: Citations will be issued.
